So I looked at the results of the autocross. Some of you know, I am on stock wheels and tires, low grip and all that fun stuff. In STX I was keeping up with 3 out of the 6 cars there. Their times where 60.xxx and 61.xxx, the fastest time in class was 56.xxx seconds. I had a 61.221, which amazingly didn't give me last place in class!!! I am not sure how. The class I should be in C Stock(which basically means not stock) I was within 1 to 2 seconds of 1/2 the class. I think I am getting the hang of this driving thing. I know this isn't that big of a deal, but I am feeling pretty good right now.

Also, I have two days off this week. Should I remove the muffler for the lulz?

Sidenote: Compression ratio in a 917/30 is 6.5:1. Anyone know of any post war cars with lower CR?

That low compression ratio allows for disgusting amounts off boost. Very cool figure, learn something new every day.

Also, what do you autox?

Pretty cool. Wish I could run an autocross, I can't seem to find any anywhere near me. Apparently the british have a different definition of it which includes dirt racing on track together with purpose built cars.

Nice going with your autocrossing.

Early Porsche 930s also had a CR of 6.5:1 as did many race Porsche in 70's too. The lowest number that I could find is from UK but I'm quite sure that some US made cars have quite low too.

Rolls Royce Phantom IV that was in production during 1950-56 (18 pieces made for really wealthy people) had a B80 straight eight with a CR of 6.4:1. The engine type was used in various military and truck applications too Phantom IV remained the sole car model to have it.

Low CR means MORE BOOST!!!!!

But good job on keeping up with your class. Now get rid of those Prius tires and get your god damn wheels and tires for that bitch already.

Unless it's running 1/2 ton of boost, I don't know of any.

Soooooon, probably for next years season. I have to get a set of summer wheels, which I plan on doing in November some time, and then I have to wait for a sale at Costco on Bridgestone tires!

Made for really wealthy people, has a truck engine? Well I guess you gotta cut costs somehow.

Actually, it's 1002kg of boost.

A metric shit-ton of boost.

The engine used in heavy duty applications wasn't completely identical but most components were still similar but not necessarily interchangeable. The heavy duty versions aren't terribly rare as many typical British fire trucks used them. All versions are intake/inlet over exhaust (IOE or F-head) type engines.
